The aircraft fire is unrelated to the recent batteries. Fire is a result of pinched battery wires in the Emergency Locator Beacon. Burnt out much of the rear of the aircraft and external areas above causing deep damage to aft bulkhead, rudder and elevator system. Aircraft may be a write off - unless pride of hull loss or Public Relations dictates repair even if economically un-viable.

Whilst parked at London Heathrow Airport with no Pax or crew on board smoke was seen to be coming from rear of the aircraft prompting emergency services to respond and both runways and the airport to be closed. The aircraft was foamed and the fire extinguished. The cause of the fire is unknown at this time. The aircraft had arrived in Heathrow as flight ET-700 at 06:30L and was scheduled to depart for the return flight ET-701 at 21:00L
