Whilst performing flight HU-7923 from Changsha (China) to Los Angeles, was climbing out of Changsha when the crew stopped the climb at 3,000 ft reporting issues with the slats, moreover being unable to retract them. Aircraft entered a hold was crew troubleshot the issue and worked through checklists. Aircraft then climbed to 4,500 ft, dumped fuel and returned to Changsha runway 36 2 hours 25mins later. Flight was cancelled

Whilst performing flight HU-498 from Chicago O Hare to Beijing was at FL380 when the crew received a smoke indication in the passenger cabin and chose to divert to Harbin. Post flight inspection showed no signs of fire, heat or smoke.
